Golden Bot is currently 100% free but there may be some paid features such as early access to commands that are still in development in the future if the bot expands to the point that i can't afford to continue to finance it as a "passion project". I hope to never restrict access to any useful or meaningful commands/features that improve overall QOL and productivity when moderating servers or just having some fun with friends. Golden Bot may not be better than some bots overall as I can only add features and commands so fast on my own currently and there is a lot that needs to be done to make the bot secure and efficient to allow for future growth. That being said I am doing my best to make sure that every single feature or command that is released is as useful and easy to use as possible for example making it so that setting snowmode through the command will default to whatever text channel you are already using the command in so that all you have to specify is the delay and then just press enter without having to find the channel you want although that is optional if you wish to set it from another channel it is not required by default which is a nice yet rare touch compared to many other Discord bots on the market in my opinion and the little things like that are what really make all the difference for me personally. As I previously noted there is not a ton of commands and/or features publicly available quite yet as there is a lot of backend setup that needs to be done to ensure everything runs smooth and efficient to keep costs down for the short term. Please do feel free to use the suggest command to make suggestions directly to me through Discord and I will likely add your requested feature to the list of if I think it will fit in with any planned updates.
I don't want to go into too much detail about some of the features I'd like to implement into my bot as I constantly mention it can take me some time to implement new features and I don't want to release any ideas that others could beat me to finishing and claim as their own ideally. Some ideas I do have though is a way of mentioning rules that are on your server in the warn system so you just start to type the name or number of the rule when you're trying to warn someone or any other infraction and it will grab said rule and DM them the word for word definition associated with that very rule and also keep note of that in the logs. One cool feature that is out now is being able to report messages by right clicking the message (pc only for now, Discord compatibility issue) and then click on Apps you can then select report message which will send a very nice embed with all the relevant info from that message and user to the mods in a designated channel on that server. Future plans for member reports that will ask the reporter for a reason will come soon hopefully and also there is a Who Is command similar to the report message command but is meant to be used by mods to get certain useful info about a user in a hidden message only they can see.
Honestly I am not 100% sure what the future will hold for the bot but I do plan to continue to work on it as I learn more about Javascript and Node.js along the way. YouTube tutorials on the official channel are something I will likely be adding a lot of over the 2022 Christmas holiday season as I hopefully will have more free time so I can make a bunch of short tutorials on already public features. If Golden Bot gets too big I will have to host it on the cloud or through a VPS at some point. If it gets to that point I will have to have a premium program where servers can unlock access to new commands before public release, maybe a custom client instance of the bot, etc. Not really necessary for much but nice to have things.
I hope to make a separate bot that is for Beta and Alpha testing of new features so that if I screw something up it doesn't affect the public bot. I will release more info about the program when I have more details in order over on the official Golden Bot Discord server which you can find the link to at the top of your screen or do '/bot support' for a link to the support/community server.
